Prajakta Koli's Response to Nepal's Protests
YouTuber and actress Prajakta Koli has decided to cancel her planned visit to Nepal due to the ongoing protests in the nation. She expressed her support for the Nepali citizens and described the situation as 'heartbreaking' in a post on her Instagram story. This decision comes in light of the widespread Gen Z protests in Nepal, primarily led by students, advocating for government accountability and transparency.
Instagram Message from Prajakta
In her Instagram story, Prajakta shared, 'What transpired in Nepal yesterday is genuinely heartbreaking. Celebrating during such a time feels inappropriate. My thoughts are with the families affected. I was eagerly anticipating my visit and meeting everyone, but now is not the right moment. I hope to see you all soon.'
Rohit Saraf's Support
Rohit Saraf, Prajakta's co-star and a native of Nepal, also addressed the protests, stating, 'To everyone in Nepal… my thoughts and prayers are with you. No struggle should come at the cost of innocent lives. Violence is never the solution. I hope for dialogue, compassion, and peace.'
Current Situation in Nepal
As for the protests, all airports in Nepal, including Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, have been closed until noon on Wednesday, as reported by airport officials. The Nepali Army has taken charge of security both inside and outside the airport.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Oli resigned, a decision confirmed by his office. Reports indicate that four ministers had already resigned prior to Oli's announcement. His departure is anticipated to trigger political discussions as various parties seek to establish a new government.
The protests, which began on September 8, 2025, in Kathmandu and other significant cities like Pokhara, Butwal, and Birgunj, were sparked by the government's ban on major social media platforms, citing concerns over tax revenue and cybersecurity.
